concert

Went to the hometown Avett Brothers concert this weekend, which was fantastic. The whole time I kept thinking about how amazing it must be to create art with a sibling. I wonder how you raise children that have that kind of connection? Right now I would settle for my kids just getting along.

Nothing great comes if it is forced. I mean, look how Michael Jackson turned out (that is, if you believe his child stardom was forced on him). I think when you nurture children as individuals and they choose to come together, that's when the magic happens. And knowing how hard it is to do just that makes me all the more respectful of siblings who go into any kind of business together!

I agree with Nilsa...any kind of sibling collaboration has to come naturally. It starts with building train tracks together or coloring a drawing together...if a mutual passion exists, it'll suddenly just be there...you won't have to find it.

My sister and i argued alot when we were little and we are really different but we get on really well now as adults. Both our parents are dead and i'll think you'll find in any times of crisis they will really stick together. It's what is so great about having a sibling. They are the person you share your life with, your growing up with, your holidays, your first boyfriends etc... They become a part of you, and you of them. It just happens you can't make it or stop it. ;)
