hair accessories

I have this new headband that I love. And I wear it with this dress, which I also love. But truth be told, Alex has no love for the headband. At a recent cocktail party he spent quite a bit of time positioning us so that the flower of my headband faced the wall. And of course, I spent as much time as possible drawing attention to the headband by petting it and crazily casting my eyes toward it. So I'm curious, dear blog-world friends, what would you do? He hates it. I like it. Do I continue to wear it when I'm with him?

And I am a little curious what you think of the headband. It's like this one, but grey...and um, with spots. Be honest. I can take it.

A very stylish and beautiful woman at the cocktail party told me she liked my flower. I was all "THANK YOU! My husband has been making fun of it all night." She asked me why. I told her I didn't know; he just doesn't like my headband. She recoiled almost in horror and replied, "Oh! Well..you can't even tell it's a headband." Like....it was fine when it was just a spotted flower on your head, but a headband...EGADS!

a guy friend once told me when i was concerned about this cute little hat i bought that there is one thing about accessories "if you like it, go with it. and to hell with what everyone else thinks." mostly because being "good" and accessorizing is hard, but you should wear what makes you feel pretty because you project a better vibe and people will just think it's pretty if you have the confidence to do it. (people on a whole are followers). so if you don't question it, neither will anyone else.

Keep the headband...perhaps Alex will eventually come around (I hope). I have been in a headband phase too (check out J. Crew's sale section...I just bought one for $5). Oh my...and that dress...IT"S AMAZING! You must model it for us to see (wink). You rock the flower headband...I love it :).

I love it and the Anthropologie dress. I say wear it as long as you like it.

Totally love the headband and think you pull it off beautifully. If you feel good wearing it, and you love it, then you should definitely wear it. Maybe Alex will notice the happy glow surrounding you when you wear it instead of focusing on the headband itself.

P.S. In full disclosure, my advice to wear the headband despite what Alex thinks comes from a the spirit of an eye for an eye. I have endured my husband's facial hair for months on end now even though I want nothing more than for him to shave it off. Facial hair is so totally not my thing. And he knows how I feel about it yet still keeps on growing those whiskers. He likes how he looks so therefore he keeps wearing the goatee and I (mostly) keep my comments to myself.

I LOVE IT!! I say wear it as much as possible while it's still in style...and the dress is perfect. I'm sure you look beautiful in both. Boys don't know what's cute :)

Go for it! I've got a hairstyle that I wear about every third day that Donnie hates. Oh well...he can do with his hair as he pleases :)

i have a slew of headbands and funky jewelry. whenever we get ready to go out my husband just looks at me and asks me, "please, could you just pick one or the other?" somehow he manages to get over his embarassment and realize that it makes me ridiculously happy to be wearing feathers and buttons...even at the same time!

I'm a headband girl myself every now and then. I think it's great and wow, that dress! I do understand your dilema though. I've got some shoes that Randy would rather I didn't wear! And he's pretty much the only one I still try to look good for.

Get over it, Alex!

I wish I could wear those; I think they are so pretty, but headbands give me terrible headaches.

I think that for guys, they prefer your hair alone...no headbands, no clips, no flowers.... just hair.
Guys tend to like items that enhance the hair without showing.
personally, I think you should wear what makes you happy. but... it looks like a starfish crawled up on your head and sat down.
PS I lean toward the "guy" opinion

there is something about the big flower headbands...people either love them or hate them. I wore one the other day and I was alternatively faced with strange looks or adoration. I'm in the "love" camp.

Okay...I know who anonymous #1 is (hi, Alex), but the other anonymous headband haters should make themselves known. Be proud!

I think that headband has tons of personality. Not only do I think you should keep wearing it, but I think you should get Canon and Elly their own versions. hahaha.
