I am declaring a moratorium on talking about my kids or posting pictures of my kids...for two weeks. I feel like all I do on this blog is go on and on about the girls. And a 100% mommy blog is not what I intended when I started this. Surely I can find something else to say for 14 days. Honestly...I'm not so sure about that, but it's a challenge I'm up for.
Since today is my last day to mention the girls for a while, I have to indulge.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Today was a very exciting day in our house, election day! I was very emotional as the girls and I walked into our local polling place. Even though I had tried to stress the significance of what we were doing there, the girls were unimpressed. Canon lay spread-eagle on the floor in the middle of the voting room while I filled in my ballot, and Elly was determined to grab the pen out of my hand and color in her own circles. When I completed my ballot, an election worker gave me three " I voted" stickers. I placed one on Canon, one on Elly, one on myself and then proudly walked with my girls out of the room. By the time we got home Canon had stuck her sticker to the bottom of her shoe, and Elly had eaten hers.

Canon was all about lying spread-eagle on the floor today. She threw herself on the kitchen floor just before nap time to rest for a bit. When Elly discovered her there, she lay on top of her and started sucking her thumb. The two of them just hung out there, hugging for the longest time. Sisterhood is so cool.

Cora lost her "I Voted" sticker before we even got to our MOPS group, then she decided to take mine! All she wanted to do was "hide" under the polling booth. hahaha.
Sounds like "our" man won "your" state. Yeah! And I love you're trying to instill the importance of voting in your girls at such a young age. Love it.
BTW, YOU may be able to go 2 weeks without writing about your girls, but ...
1) I hope that doesn't mean you'll stop writing altogether !!!
and
2) How will WE survive 2 weeks without hearing about and seeing pictures of them?
You know, there's nothing wrong with a "mommy blog". You're addicted to taking pics of your kids, like I am...and that's cool! Good luck with the 2-week hiatus :)
Yea, it's really hard for me to not blog on and on about my daughter (and now son) too! I started pulling blog ideas from interesting articles I read in the NY Times and magazines. And if worse comes to worse, you can always talk about the weather (grin). I really do enjoy reading about you and your girls though..and the photos are always fantastic.
I understand completely. It's hard not to blog about our kids because they are understandably the center of our universe. Can't wait to see what's in store for the next two weeks, though! This may force you to be more creative in you blog entries.
My love to you.
This post made me laugh out loud on several occasions...the pictures of Elly being flooded by water, Canon laying spread eagle in the middle of the voting room, Elly coloring your ballot, eating i voted stickers, and snuggling together. I'll miss the posts about the girls but I love hearing about what you're thinking. - lauren
Maddy stuck my "I voted" sticker on the inside window of my mini-van (I cringed that I had become one of "those" moms whose vehicle is trashed by the kids)....I eventually got it off.
