all grown up

Each year I buy ferns and hang them from my porch, and each year they are dead well before July.   I am determined that this year my ferns not only live, but make it to July lush and green. This morning when I was photographing them to keep record of their progress, I noticed a few wisteria blossoms made it into the shot.  Soft, fluffy, violet blossoms from the vines that have weaved their way through the slats and planks of my porch.   And for the first time, I realized that I care.  I care if the ferns live.  I care about the beautiful wisteria.  I care about the grass seeds.  I care about this little home.  It took me by surprise really, like a sudden contentment with adulthood.

Speaking of adulthood...we are using our entire economic stimulus tax rebate to buy a new evaporator coil for our HVAC. Exciting, right?  I think that pretty much just screams adulthood.  I know it's impolite to talk about money, but I really hope some of you out there are doing something a little more fun with your rebate.  Anyone want to share how you plan to splurge?

We're probably going to do something equally as exciting as you with our rebate...put it towards rent. Whoo-hoo.

Maybe I can talk Andy into buying a TV since we still are TV-less in the new apartment. I'm starting to miss HGTV.

I plan to splurge, that's for sure. I'm buying myself that new camera I've been talking about FOREVER! And even though I have the money in savings, I'm trying to be responsible and wait until the actual rebate shows up in my bank account. Speaking of, I haven't checked for a few days ... gotta go check now!

Two words: DOUBLE STROLLER. I don't think I will be able to survive this summer unless I'm able to take walks with Fen and the new baby. And I just can't see myself doing the Baby Bjorn AND stroller thing...no, the tax rebate is definitely going towards a double stroller. And any money leftover will probably go to paying for diapers. Yea, I feel pretty adult and boring too. One day, perhaps I'll buy some rediculously expensive purse or pair of sunglasses...but for now, babies come first :).

We're mostly paying off debt with our money but we did splurge and buy a new grill!

Hopefully, put it towards a new car. Well, not a NEW car, but new for me. SUV, actually.

I would love to convince Bryan to let me get a camera. But reality is DAYCARE! Daycare is one of the most things I have ever had to deal with.

i should do something grown up. attempt to grow grass in my yard. get my hvac or car serviced. pay bills. but instead i am going to italy and london for 2 weeks. the ticket was a gift, and i will use my stimulus $ for food. can't think of anything more stimulating!

We are going to the beach with our money (which by the time we pay for gas, we should have little left to splurge)-it will be my last week of maternity leave....I don't want to go back to work :(
