Let me start by saying....Alex is a really great father. He is present, loving, tender, fun, dorky, nurturing...and on and on....with our girls.
But...the other day we had this conversation:
alex: (casually) Elly will eat anything.
me: I know. What is she eating?
alex: Just chips and salsa. I gave her a little bit and she seemed to like it, so I gave her some more.
me: What salsa? The HOT salsa?!?
That's when I look over to see a wide-eyed Elly with hot salsa all over her face. People, this salsa is hot. It has a serious kick to it. Is it not common knowledge that you shouldn't feed your toddler hot salsa, or am I being a crazed, overprotective mother? I think he's just trying to keep me on my toes, make sure I don't get too comfortable leaving the girls with him. Who knows, maybe next time Elly will have a serious craving for beer.
Maybe this is just a guy thing. When Canon was just a few days old, her Uncle Paul wanted to submerge her in a bathtub full of water to observe her natural breath-holding reflex.
Nice, guys. Nice.

I think it really is just guys! When Kali was about 10 months old, Greg fed her a whole can of Chef Boyardee(sp) raviolis. I was of course like, "that is way too much for her", to which he responded, "well, she liked them, so I gave her the rest of the can"!Oh well! She survived:)
Wait? Isn't Elly sick? Doesn't the hot salsa help clear her congestion? What? Why are you looking at me like that? hahaha (Can you tell I don't have kids?!)
Ah, us moms have a lot of "daddy" stories, huh... We just grin and bear it ;)
those stories are freaking hilarious.
Alex is a hoot! Thank goodness our children are resilient enough to withstand the experiments our husbands perform on them.
Hope Elly is surviving the after effects of hot salsa okay.
I have to share with you my BFF's son will cry at the table if when we go for Mexican food we don't give him a little bowl of salsa which he will eat with his finger and pretty much ignore the chips and he is only 18 months old.
My husband gives my toddler coffee. I don't expect him to grow much more.
Ok, I just have to tell you that I laughed OUT LOUD at the coment about the uncle wanting to observe her natural breath-holding reflex!
