blog announcements

I have two announcements, so let me get right to it.

announcement #1:

I wasn't in the greatest of moods today, so I decided to treat myself. Last week the camera fairy took back the digital camera she had loaned me. So today...I bought my own. I am beyond excited. Without touching a single setting I ran outside and took a picture of Canon before bedtime. Many, many more pictures to come.

announcement #2:

When I started this blog, I planned to just write little anecdotes about the girls. It started out innocent enough, but quickly became personal. I can't really explain how it happened. I think I may have crossed some sort of unspoken blog rule and flung the door to my personal life open way too far. I didn't post much last week partly because I was busy, but also because I'm not quite sure where I want to go with this blog. I'm reconsidering what to do with this space. So my plan is to stick to the topic of the girls for a little while, which means my blog will probably be completely boring to everyone except my family. I'm open to suggestions, guidelines and ways to know where to draw the line.

1) I'm so excited for you and a teeny bit jealous! Since I have been using my small digital camera a lot lately, I have realized more and more the limitations of it. Been thinking about updating it soon...

2) I struggle with exactly what you discussed daily with my blog. I opted to keep my personal life somewhat hidden, but have always admired how open you are about your life. I think it's a really personal decision what you want your blog to focus on. Maybe this next chapter of your blog can focus a little more on you - what it's like to try balancing being a mother without losing your own identity. You seem to touch on that a bit from time to time ... and this way you wouldn't completely stray from the original intent (i.e., you can still talk heavily about your children and your life - but make the focus you instead of your children). Just a thought ... I'm sure I'll keep reading no matter what the topic - I love your style!

I'm going to copy Nilsa's numbered format!

1) Yea!!! I'm so glad you finally have you very own camera. I can't wait to see your artistic side come out in your photographs.

2) I love your blog exactly the way it is. It's so Christy. It can be fun and whimsical sometimes, and heavy and deep at others, which reflects your personality. I understand why you may feel it has gotten too personal at times, but just ask yourself what you want from your blog. Do want to use it as a space for posting pictures of your girls? Do you want to use it as an outlet to talk about life as a mom?

I personally like the mosaic effect you have going on right now. The small reflections of different aspects of your life, your personality, & your individuality are all beautiful pieces, but when you put them all together as you've done on this blog, you've created a masterpiece that cannot be replicated. That's just my opinion, though. Follow your heart and you'll know what to do.

Love you.

I think you just need to do whatever you feel like doing. Obviously you can't take back what's already out there, but you can start afresh from here. If you feel like you are getting too personal, then just stop writing the personal stuff. I for one enjoy pretty much everything you write... including the "boring" stuff about your girls. I don't think it's boring. But I also love learning more about you and who you really are. Either way, I will be a faithful reader. Blog on, friend... blog on.

"flung the door to my personal life open way too far."

I just started that blog like 20 minutes ago, so congrats on being my first (comment). LOL. Give me a place to write in public and you'll see inside my giagantic warped skull. No worries, it was good to see you again too.
