Tonight my mom's side of the family had dinner to celebrate Canon's birthday. As I watched her open her gifts, I realized she is definitely no longer my baby...she's a full blown little girl. The gifts were all perfect. People are able to buy things that match her personality and her interests. Even though Canon has always been very independent, I have still felt some sense of ownership over her. I felt she was an extension of me. She was mine. But now I am seeing she is her own person. Separate. Apart. Individual. Beautiful. Strong. Active. Funny. Compassionate. Loving. Smart. Happy. And I'm so in love with that little person.As a side note, I would like to thank both of my sisters who came in town to spend time with Canon for her birthday. It meant the world to me.
