Canon started pulling up in her crib when she was just under six months old. From the very beginning, she loved to dance. If music was playing, she would hold on for dear life and bounce her little knees to the beat.
Canon's love for dancing is actually what led me to this blog. Since I know nothing about about grace and movement, I sought advice from a woman I met years ago whom I respect as a dancer. She has a beautiful blog. It inspired me to start my own. Just recently I finally asked her advice on what to do with my innate mover. She had wonderful suggestions.
I was so excited to learn that our YMCA is offering free creative movement classes for preschoolers during the month of May. I thought it would be the perfect introduction and trial run. Today was her first class. I'll admit I got a little choked up watching her through the window in the door. I never imagined that my children would take dance classes, but it is so fitting for her. And it is her first "thing", her first independent interest. This came a lot sooner than I thought it would.

Oh my. I'm feeling emotional reading this. Your baby is growing up. Her first dance class. Her first activity. Oh my. I'm not ready for this.
By the way, I love the Hula seventy (I think that's it) blog you linked. Too cool!
Bitter sweet.
