blossom of snow

As soon as I found out I was pregnant with Canon, I started singing Edelweiss to her. I sang it walking down the street. I sang it in the shower. I sang it before I went to bed. I sang it all the time. I became so attached to the song, Alex and I chose to include a part of it in her name. It's her lullaby. And now Elly's lullaby, too.

Edelweiss, Edelweiss
Every morning you greet me
Small and white, clean and bright
You look happy to meet me

Blossom of snow may you bloom and grow
Bloom and grow forever

Edelweiss, Edelweiss
Bless my homeland forever

Tonight I went to a local production of The Sound of Music with my mom and my blossom of snow. It was pretty special. Tears filled my eyes when I heard our song. That song was my way to connect with them even before they were born. That song has calmed their tears and lulled them to sleep. It's their special song.

What a sweet moment for you, your mom, and your girls. I'm sure it will be something you remember for a lifetime.

Love you.

Dare I admit I haven't seen the Sound of Music? But this connection you have to that production and your girls? Makes me want to run out and see it!

By the way, Edelweiss is one of Susana's favorite songs. Do you remember going the Rhineland Haus for my birthday one year and they sang it for her?

I love this song too...there's a wonderful version of it on Innocence Mission's lullaby album, "Now The Day Is Over"
