tough cookie

Our webcam captured this image of Canon the day she got her 18-month shots. I was amazed by her that day; she didn't shed a tear. Three shots and nothing except a few winces. Today the same thing, two shots and nothing more than a look in her eyes that let me know it hurt. I guess I'm just totally amazed because I have vivid memories of screaming and thrashing and having to be held down to get my shots when I was her age. Hmmm....glad she didn't get that from me.

Yep....it's a mommy blogging day.

??????? I don't remember you screaming and thrashing. Maybe a tear sliding down your cheek....maybe you wanted to scream and thrash.
Love, Mom

Ha! I knew you wouldn't remember, Mom. So I spent the better part of yesterday trying to remember if it was me or if I saw another kid screaming and thrashing and having to be held down. I'm still pretty confident it was me.

Okay...maybe screaming and thrashing was a bit of an exaggeration, but multiple people were definitely holding me down.

The most obvious signs of good parenting are well behaved children. And here you are questioning your abilities. Pshaw!

I was definitely one of those kids that screamed and thrashed. I somehow convinced my mom not to take me to the doctor from the time I turned 9 until I was graduating from high school because I didn't want my finger pricked. And I'll never forget going by myself for my shots for college and crying the entire time I was there because I was petrified. How ironic that I ended up giving the shots after college....but, like I always say, it doesn't hurt me a bit to GIVE shots.

Good job, Canon!
