I was a bit surprised when I realized my heart hadn't skipped a beat at the first sight of the city from the plane. I'm still trying to process my feelings about New York. Was it my first love? Does it always hold a special place in my heart, but now Chicago is my new love? Or...has my love for New York matured? Maybe New York and I have moved into the more stable, less exciting phase of our relationship. Or...maybe the love for my girls has seeped and crept into the other spaces of my heart that once loved other things. I don't know. It's weird to realize you have changed and you hadn't noticed it.
Aside from my odd feelings (or lack there of) for the city, I had a fantastic time. How could I not? I mean, I was able to spend three (technically four) days with my best friend. In New York. Without our kids. It was wonderful.
I'm sure I'll post more about the trip later, but for now I'll share a couple of my favorite pictures.
I've also made a few New York inspired mastheads, so don't be surprised if I play musical headers over the next couple weeks.

Awww, I'm so glad you finally made it there, got some blue skies and had a great time with Dawn. You're making me look forward to my trip to New York in May!
LOVE the train masthead. So clever!
I couldn't wait to hear how the trip went and see pics! NYC rocks! Glad both of you had a wonderful time! (I'm a tad bit jealous! :)
