recommendations

I've finally made some space for reading. When I was pregnant with Elly, I worked odd hours at the television station. My schedule combined with pregnancy fatigue left no room for reading. Then Elly came along and I spent months just trying to hang on. But now, my life is returning to normal. I'm able to carve out space for myself.

I just finished The Kite Runner. I can't believe such a mesmerizing story sat on my nightstand for so long, whispering to be read. The next book on my list is A Thousand Splendid Suns. But I don't have anything lined up after that. Anyone have a suggestion? I'd love any and all book recommendations.

Have you read The Secret Life of Bees? I'm not a huge reader, but it is one of my favorites.

I, too, have been out of reading for a long time....grad school sort of sucks all the life out of you. At least, mine did. ;) Anyway, I just read The Other Boleyn Girl and was completely enthralled, and am now onto some of the author's other works.

I loved The Kite Runner. You'll have to let me know how the next book goes! I'm in the middle of "good summer reading" by Nick Hornby, but wouldn't necessarily recommend it as a must read. I'll let you know if I come across a must read!

My suggestions:

- Memoirs of a Geisha (excellent book!)

- The Time Traveler's Wife

- The History of Love

- Lovely Bones

- The Red Tent

- Plain Truth & Keeping Faith (both by Jodi Picoult and my favorites of her many books)

- The Other Boleyn Girl (I've read most of the books by this author and like most of them)

- Harry Potter (just finished the final book - so good!)

- I enjoyed the Secret Life of Bees as well.

That's enough for now. Let me know if you read any of my selections. Happy reading!
