self portrait challenge: fire

The theme for this month's challenge is elements of the earth (water, air, earth, fire). Here's my practice run. I'm calling it Baby Food Jars Ablaze. One day I might even work up the courage to actually submit my self portraits. Until then, I'll just post them here. I'd happily accept any critique or advice.

-------
Update: I decided to go ahead and submit this one just as it is. If there has to be a first, it might as well be this. I think it's fairly representative of what my life is like right now. I'm exhausted and a bit lost, but my girls are my driving force, my light.

I remember seeing all the baby food jars in your sink yesterday and meant to ask what you had in mind for them...now I know. I love it - I think you should build up that courage and submit some of these photos.

Hey Christy,

1) your pictures are always amazing and captivate my imagination...submit them!
2) i really hope you guys come as early as possible next week so i can spend time with you and the girls.
3) cnn had linked to a video on your old station (about something random, i don't remember). in the corner of that page, i saw a link for the protesting video...

hello christy! love your self portrait here. submit to the site when you're good and ready (and not a moment sooner) though I must say-- this would have been one of my official picks for the week. such lovely composition. also, great take on the element of fire. love it.

hope you, alex and the girls are well. :)

You never ever have to be afraid to submit photos to SPC -- honestly, we're not judgemental over there in the least. Your picture is great and I'm glad that you're part of the group.

I'm glad that you decided to submit this to the main SPC site. I really like the light and darkness and you inbetween and in soft focus. Seems very descriptive of the mood you've described. Well done!
