color week catch-up

I had a lovely time visiting my sister and her husband in Virginia Beach. I had to finish my color week photos at their home.

Wednesday: green

So much green passing me by. Farm house roofs barely peeking out from rows and rows of corn. Fruitful crops lining the highway. The bounties of the farmlands on display. Traveling with children doesn't allow much room for smelling the roses, indulging in wanderlust or even stopping for a photograph. So...my green was limited to dinner. Delicious dinner.

Thursday: black/white/brown

I'm used to beach houses that sit on stilts high above the ground like seagulls waiting for the surf. Should the tide draw near, it would only rinse the long legs. But homes near the shore in Virginia Beach are so much different. Cottages. Much like I would imagine New England beach homes to be. Cozy. Coastal.

Friday: orange

I feel like I cheated a bit for this one. I walked out to the backyard, which my brother-in-law has so lovingly landscaped. Easy orange.

Saturday: red

Sunday: pink

Sometimes she seems all tomboy. She spent most of the weekend looking for bugs. We even had a talk about how some bugs can be dangerous. [This after another mother gave me an evil look when she saw Canon trying to free a bee from the pool.] And then sometimes she seems all girl. Even with a pink marker.

A few more color pictures here. Thank you, Andrea, for the inspiration; it was super fun.
