playing

The trouble with organizing a huge play date is the intense pressure that everyone has a good time, which is fairly difficult when two-year-olds are involved. So...I can only speak for me and my child....we had a great time. Canon made a new friend, Evan. They held hands and ran around imitating each other. I got to spend some time with old friends. We didn't get to talk much, but we were near each other. For now, I'll settle for just being together.

I mentioned in an earlier post that my high school reunion is coming up. We are supposed to fill out a questionnaire about our high school experience. One of the questions is, "What is your fondest high school memory?" Senior year snow days are the first thing that come to my mind. In the South, no one can drive in the snow. That year a few inches of snow fell, and school was canceled. Most of it melted away except for patches in a few neighborhoods. I think we were out of school for at least a week. Graduation was pushed back, but we had a week to play in the middle of our senior year. I spent all of that time with my best friend. She and her daughter are in town this week. I can't begin to explain how excited I am for this rare opportunity to spend quality time with her. It won't be the same as it was in high school, but we will make new fond memories.
