repeat

This date last year sticks out vividly in my mind. My dear friend from Chicago was visiting the South. She had invited Alex and I to have drinks and dinner with some of her friends. Canon had been throwing up that week so I had to decline. That night I carried my sick child up the stairs to her room. Just as I was about to put her down in her bed, she hugged me...and then threw up in my face. There were chunks of her vomit in my hair, down my shirt, and even in my mouth.

I felt like I was in some sort of parallel universe this morning when Canon woke me up. She spent the morning throwing up. Her little tummy convulsing on its own.

Last year, she threw up for three weeks. A pediatrician checked her out twice to make sure she wasn't dehydrated. Apparently she was getting down enough ice chips. Below is a picture of her just as she was recovering. She was pitiful. I am crossing my fingers that today was a one time deal.

Poor Canon and poor mommy. I'm sorry that both of you are having to go through this again. I remember last year being tough with the nausea & vomitting for Canon. It's really weird that it happened almost the exact same time as last year. I hope that this is just a 24 hour virus.

I've certainly experienced the "vomit garment" as I like to call it, when Bella covered me from my hair to my toes with throw-up. The last time she did that, I took off both of our clothes and climbed into the bath together to get clean. What a yucky experience. I'll be thinking of both of you and keeping you in my prayers. Love you.

I know all you want is for her to feel better. We just feel so helpless, don't we? Joel has had some really high fever (104-105) a couple of times, and it is just heartbreaking when he feels so bad and there's really nothing I can do but hold him. Hope Canon gets better soon.

Oh dear! I didn't realize our missed connection last year was so difficult for you. Sick kids are no fun. Hope Canon and the rest of the family are feeling better today!
