perfect ending

Canon is spending the night with my mom tonight. I'm looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow morning and having some alone time with Elly.

Canon was still taking a nap this afternoon when it was time to drop her off at my mom's house. I went into her room and starting packing her bag, hoping my movements would gradually pull her away from her dreams. She was in a deep sleep, so it took her a while to wake up. She was groggy...her hair was tousled...the side of her face was bright pink. She looked around her room for a moment and then said, "Mommy, you awesome."

To be fair, my days are filled with spontaneous "I love you"s and "you awesome"s, but this one seemed so perfectly timed and straight from the heart. It was a wonderful ending to the week.
