My dear Elly,

The past week with you has been truly priceless. I have so enjoyed being able to devote my full attention to you every minute of the day. I will always treasure the hours we were able to spend alone. Staring into your face...listening to what you had to say...smiling at your gummy grin....kissing every part of your little body....watching you drift asleep...holding you tightly when sleep overcame you....comforting you when you cried...tickling your toes. My dear, sweet baby, I adore you.

Tomorrow you will go back on my hip, back to the swing, back in the crib. Balancing you and your sister has been especially hard for me. I promise to do better. I promise to do my best.
